Deserts
Deserts are arid regions, at low altitudes, where daytime temperatures may be extremely hot, and where there may be little vegetation. The soils in a desert are depleted of water. This means that deserts are places which otherwise would contain abundant vegetation if the soil contained sufficient water.
Major deserts of the world are:
- Sahara - Africa
- Sudan - Africa
- Khalahari - Africa
- Mohave - North America
- Chihuahuan Desert - North America
- Great Basin Desert - North America
- Sonoran Desert - North America
