Volcanoes
A map of the surface of the Earth also reveals strings of volcanoes, like pearls in a necklace. Some of these are strings of islands, such as the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, are shown bending in a graceful arc in this picture. Others are strings of volcanoes within a mountain range, such as the string of volcanoes along the western coast of both the United States and South America.
The most famous grouping of volcanoes is called the Pacific Ring of Fire. The term defines an enormous volcano string which circumscribes the Pacific Ocean. Take a look at it using the link below.
